Project Runway
I didn’t go walking with Fred yesterday. He got stuck in traffic and we figured that if we did go walking, we would never make it back in time to watch the first part of the season finale for Project Runway. I can’t believe I just admitted that. I swear I have become addicted to this show and I don’t know why. I mean it is pretty contrary to the kind of person I am. I think high fashion is stupid and that most high fashion garments are just overpriced.
But Project Runway is just this guilty pleasure I have and I just can’t miss an episode. Thank goodness the season is almost over. I wonder if it’s because this is a “reality” show that requires the contestants to actually make something tangible under pressure. Obviously the scoring is completely judgemental based on what the judges feel is in good taste or “fashionable.” But some of the stuff these guys turn out is pretty amazing.
My favorite contestant is Laura. She’s a 42 year old architect going for a career change and has no professional experience in fashion. She’s just so kick ass. I admire her confidence. I do have to admit that I also think that a lot of her stuff looks alike, but I think that it is mostly because she has a specific point of view about clothes and what looks good.
The big controversy about the finale is that Laura accuses Jeffrey the Jerk of outsourcing his sewing which is against the rules since the designers are supposed to create everything themselves. I saw part one of the finale yesterday and I do think that Jeffrey cheated. They are showing the designers the week before the big fashion event at Olympus Fashion week at Bryant Park New York and Jeffrey has nothing to do since he is completly finished with everything while the other designers are still putting finishing touches on their pieces. Jeffrey the Jerk also stated that he was also working on completing the fall line for his own clothing line while working on the Project Runway stuff.
I do know that he also showed at Fashion Week so it’s hard to say if he was really kicked out or not. I mean if they did kick him out before the show, I think that the producers of PR would let him show simply because it would be so totally obvious that he was kicked out before the finale aired. I just a mini review of next week’s show and hmmm, no Jeffrey whatsoever in the preview. Of course who knows if it is because they kicked him out or because they want to manufacture moer drama.
