I have a lot, and I mean a lot, of conflicted feelings about my Dad.
I mostly use my Mom’s computer nowadays to post since I still can’t get my router set up properly. I think I have the router problem figured out. My DSL modem is also a router using the same IP address as the router and it also works as a DHCP server, so it’s just a matter of me having the patience to sit down here and go through all sorts of combinations of turning the DHCP off and changing the IP of the router.
Anyway, I was sitting here next to my Mom websurfing and she handed me this magazine that my Dad sent last year. It was a copy of St. George Magazine and my Dad was on the cover. (Photo by Nick Adams 2006)
St. George Magazine is one of those “ooh our town is great!” magazines that most cities have. I guess the issue was about contemporary artists in the area and my Dad was featured as one of them. I would post a link to the article, but the archives at St. George magazine are pretty minimal - to put it mildly.
I guess back in the 60’s he would paint a lot, but I never saw any of his paintings. Back in the 90’s he finally went to college and got an art degree and focused on print making. Then a few years back he got into making masks. Apparently he’s exhibited them a few times.
I guess what struck me about the article was that they had a picture of him by his “work space” and the back wall was full of pictures. Two of the pictures he had up were these portraits I sent him way back when I was in Photography 101. My Mom put the magazine away, but if I find it again, I’ll scan it and put it up.
I guess I get my artistic side from my Dad.

Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam
I started this blog on my domain in December of 2005. Since then I have received 1855 spam comments and trackbacks. 1855! I thought I might hit 2000 in December, but the way things are going I guess I am going to hit that in the next week or so. How fucked up is that? I normally get anywhere from between 10 and 20 spam comments a day, but I got 51! yesterday. Anyone want to take any bets on the day I hit 2000?
