Happy Holidays!
Woot! Well, so much for that write a blog post a day thing. Whoops. Oh well, I have been busy lately and have actually been getting to bed earlier than I have been for a looong time! Hurray!
This has been a busy week for me. I got a call from a personal trainer at the gym on Monday and agreed to meet with her on Tuesday before my sessions expired. I got 6 “free” personal training sessions when I joined the gym almost 6 months ago and I never scheduled them. It was kind of just a get to know you meeting where she took my stats and asked what my goals were. Ugh, my stats were depressing. She took my measurements too and I am curious to see how that turns out by the time my sessions are over. Like was she a little loose on the measurements and will hold the tape measure tighter by the time we are done? Or will she measure me the same way as the first day. I need to keep my eyes open for that. She said she liked to meet her clients twice a week and I am just thinking, “oh screw that!” since that would mean that my sessions would be over in 2 weeks and I am not going to pay for extra sessions at this time - mostly because I can’t afford them and because I know that the main hindrance is my motivation or lack thereof.
My Mom has been sick lately too. She got another urinary tract infection a little over a week ago. I think that is the third one in the last year and a half. I went with her to the doctor and the doctor told her she should cut back on her sugar consumption - especially since she’s diabetic since the excess sugar could be contributing to these infections. My Mom likes to be in states of denial. She’s diabetic, but she continues to drink regular sodas because she thinks that she’s perfectly fine as long as her medications keep her blood sugars under control. Um, yea, that’s not the point. Hopefully this will be a wake up call to her that yes, she need to cut down on the sugar consumption. I think it might change her attitude for a little while but she will most likely go back to her old ways again. Woot! The power of positive thinking!
I am still going to the beach too and the weather has been cooperating, so it’s been really nice. Thanksgiving day was a beautiful day - a perfect beach day - but I was busy hanging with the family, so that was a no go. I will hopefully be going on Friday though - weather permitting of course.
Thanksgiving was pretty cool. My cousin downstairs loves to cook so he prepared the feast again this year. That is one really nice thing about having my cousins live downstairs - he will always cook on holidays, so we don’t have to worry about it. This year he decided to cook a Turducken! It’s a turkey stuffed with a duck and a chicken! Eeek! It turned out really yummy!
This was the best picture I could get of it. Just about everybody in the room crowded around him when he started carving.
We had a really nice meal. The lunch was held at one of their friend’s houses in Kahala. The funny thing was that as soon as we walked into the house, my first thought was “wow, there are a lot of white people here.”
It was cool though, we had the actual lunch outside in a big yard area under a tent with tables set up - nothing fancy though.
I was going to come home and hop on the treadmill, but I was so pooped I just ended up taking a nap. Doh.
Today is Black Friday. Now, I normally don’t get excited for this day because 1) I think it’s nuts to stand in a line for 8 hours hoping to get a deal on something and 2) I think it’s nuts to stand in a line for 8 hours hoping to get a deal on something.
I kind of made an exception today though. I heard that Old Navy was giving away an mp3 player with every $20 purchase, but they were opening at 5am. However, I saw on the news that they were actually going to open at midnight Friday so I figured, heck, I am going to be up already, I might as well head on down there. Especially since, come on! How many people are going to line up at Old Navy? I got there about an hour before they were supposed to open and there were already a few people waiting in the line there. Okay, no big deal. So, I’m waiting, and waiting. I kind of mapped where I wanted to go and planned on being in a check out line within 10 minutes to beat all of the crowd.
Well about a half hour before the store was supposed to open, some workers came out and posted signs on the windows saying the the giveaway wasn’t going to occur until 5am, like the add said. The store would be open, but you would have to wait 5 hours for the promo. I saw that, and was like, “screw this!” - so I went home. LOL. I did go into CompUsa for a few minutes though since they opened at 9pm or something and I walked out of there within 5 minutes. The stores was crazy! There were checkout lines going from the front all to the back of the store. They had quite a few good specials, but nothing worth waiting in that long of a line for.
I also drove by the local Best Buy around midnight and that line was hella long too and the store didn’t open until 5am! It was nice that they had some port a potties though.
What’s worse though is that I saw that Toys R Us is going to be selling a 30gb Zune for $80 as a doorbuster item and I am seriously thinking about going down there. If I do I would have to leave the house in about half an hour though. It’s not like I really need one, but I’ve had my current mp3 player for almost 3 years now and I am just finding it lacking. It’s a 5gb player and I really like it, but I am finding the 5gb to be pretty limiting right now. I have been thinking about getting an ipod, but the lack of a radio feature is a real downer for me. If the line is too long I can always hop on over to Radio Shack, but they are selling it for $40 more, but it comes with a free leather case. There is a Radio Shack about a mile from where I live and I don’t think anyone is going to be camping that location. I don’t know. I am a little tired, but I did take a 3 hour nap and I think I will be fine as long as I take a shower before I head out. Heck, maybe I’ll even hit Old Navy if one of those don’t pan out.
Here are some recent pictures of Rayne.
