I was going to post an update this weekend, but I forgot. Doh.
A friend of mine saw in the newspaper that a monk seal was lingering on a beach in Kailua, so we headed out there to get a glimpse of it. Of course, the seal was gone by the time we got there. Doh. It would have been cool to see. I have only seen seals in the “wild” off of the Oregon coast, but never a Hawaiian monk seal in the wild.
I did manage to get a picture of a Portuguese Man-O-War on the beach though.

They look like jellyfish, but apparently are not. You still wouldn’t want one to sting you though - it’s supposed to be pretty darn nasty.
Work is well, work. The days are certainly getting longer for me and I am only a freaking receptionist/administrative assistant. Today was another 10 hour day and even though I stay so long at work, I still feel like I am not getting anything done - mostly because my inbox just does NOT go down. Grrrrr. It’s frustrating to me.
I guess I am doing pretty well so far though since my boss pretty much asked me if I was interested in coming back next session already. HA! We’ll see how this goes. Things are only supposed to get busier from this point on.
I need to shoot off an email to someone and then get to sleep. I really do need to try to get to bed earlier every night.

Personally, I have never ordered anything from Total Fitness DVDs, but I have read nothing but positive reviews about them from the various video fitness boards I go to.
I am mentioning them today because they have a few new Firms available for preorder right now. The Firms available for preorder are the ones that are set to be released on March 4, 2008. There is a possibility that they might have them sooner than that, but don’t quote me on it.
They are currently showing these new Firms available for preorder -

Tight Buns and Killer Legs was part of the initial add on pack for the Transfirmation system and one I am looking forward to, even though I haven’t worked out in ages. Ha!
I am also looking forward to the Balance Trainer one. I have seen those types of discs at the gym, but never tried them. It looks interesting though. I should probably try it at the gym though - to see if my wonky knee gets affected by it - that should make or break my purchase of it.
The prices at Total Fitness DVDs actually are quite reasonable - more reasonable than Collage actually, and I have heard that their shipping is pretty fast too. I am surprised, but a few of those new ones aren’t even available for preorder at Amazon yet.
In other workout news, Cardio Coach is running a pretty awesome sale until February 1, 2008 right now. What’s Cardio Coach? Okay, again, I have never done one myself, but they are audio workouts designed to help your cardio fitness. The people at the video fitness boards swear by them and I can’t wait to get them actually, even though I have no idea when I am going to use them - again HA!
You can use them on any type of fitness machine, but most people use them for running on a treadmill, I think. I will probably start off with walking on the treadmill and see how that goes.
They are offering a New Year Special, which is just incredible. You get 6 CD’s, 1 mp3 download and a $20 gift certificate - for $30!!!!!!!!!!!! Each workout is normally between $15 and $19 dollars, so you can see why this is such a bargain. I ordered them really early Friday morning and they should be here tomorrow actually. I would have gotten them on Monday, but there was no mail on Monday because of the holiday.
I would highly recommend picking this up now - just because the price is so good.

One thing that is really bad about getting the Cardio Coach’s though, is that it is making me want to get one of those ultra mini mp3 players for the gym. I just got a new one which I don’t want to talk about yet, just because I am weird like that, but I am now thinking about getting a Creative Zen Stone Plus. It’s like an iPod shuffle, but costs a bit less. The Zen Stone Plus holds 2 GB’s and also includes a display, a radio, a stopwatch, clock, timer, voice recorder and can be used as a storage device - for around $50. Those new fangled shuffles only have 1GB of storage, no display and costs around $80!
Yea, I know what I would rather spend my money on. I really like the Creative products, I just don’t understand why their market share is so low. I mean, heck, there is even a freaking keychain case for the Zen Stone Plus, so you can use it as a keychain! How cool is that?
Oh, but if you like the sound of the Zen Stone Plus, Creative is actually coming out with a newer version soon which is going to include a built in speaker! ZOMG! I don’t need a built in speaker though, so I think I will pass, but the price shown at the Creative site is still really reasonable - I think it is going to pretty much be the same price as it is now.

I saw Cloverfield last night. I thought it was pretty neat. It did remind me a lot of the Host, but maybe that’s because it’s a monster movie.
I rarely see movies in theaters nowadays - just because they are sooo expensive, but I just had to go see this since I figured it would be tough to avoid any spoilers on this movie for however many months it takes before this comes out on DVD.
It’s definitely a movie I want to see again - because I know I missed a lot of stuff, but I will probably have to wait until it hits the $1 theater to do that.
The whole movie is shot from the perspective of a camcorder and there were warning signs all over the place that this might cause motion sickness in some people. I didn’t have a problem with that, but I did seat myself at an end seat - just in case. Ha!
I also got to see that really short promo for the upcoming Star Trek movie. That was okay - nothing spectacular. I am sure it’s probably hit YouTube by now or something.
So, yea I liked it.

This has been a weird week in Hawaii.
Wednesday was our opening day and it was quite crazy. I’ll write more on that in a different post. I am just too tired to write about everything right now.
But, there have been 2 really brutal murders here over the last 2 days.
First, on Wednesday, some guy who just could not give up his ex girlfriend, tracked her down, rammed her car and beat her to death with a shotgun - in broad daylight, on a public street. Some people tried to stop him, but the crazy had a shotgun that he pointed at someone and also hit that person with the gun as well. It was apparently extremely brutal.
Then on Thursday, I really can’t believe this happened, but this guy took his neighbor’s toddler and threw him off of a pedestrian bridge, onto the freeway below.
What the hell is going on around here? When I first heard about the baby being killed, I thought it was a hit and run, but the person I was talking to explained it further to me, and I just can’t believe it. I mean, I heard about that guy who threw his 4 kids off of a bridge in Alabama, but I never thought something like that would happen here. Of course, no one ever thinks that unspeakable acts could occur where they live.
I really should be in bed right now. Our staff party is tomorrow and it looks like we are actually going to pull it off. The food has been ordered, drinks purchased and I made a run to Costco after work and bought $140 worth of cakes and goodies. I think there is going to be waaaay too much food, but oh well. We can always invite people to come in afterwards or donate it to the law enforcement guys near by.
I guess my boss was a little upset that I didn’t order additional salads from this one restaurant, but I just didn’t feel it was necessary given the volume of food we were going to be getting - and because I didn’t know how close to our budget we were going to get after we ordered the food and got beverages and paper goods. Grrr. I just know that I am not going to be able to get much work done tomorrow.
