I’ve haven’t been able to decide what to write since the election. I still sometimes feel so overwhelmed with emotion that Obama has won.
His winning has made me have faith in the US again. I sometimes look back and re-read some of my old blog posts about the Bush administration and I still can’t believe so many people voted for him the last time around. I read today that President Bush currently has a 76% disapproval rating – an all time low for a President since these polls were started over 60 years ago. That’s amazing.
Bush has tried to turn this country into a quasi police state – all under the guise of protecting us from terrorists. I still remember the fear and apprehension I felt just writing my opinions of him – fear that I was going to somehow be put onto some kind of subversive list and have my communications monitored. Yea, I have a very large tin foil hat.
But those feelings are diminishing now. We are going to have a a fresh and hopefully liberal/progressive outlook in the White House soon and hopefully Obama will be able to rescind a lot of the crap Bush got away with while in office.
I love, love, love that Obama already has a website up regarding the transition at change.gov! It’s a great indicator to me that transparency is priority number 1 and that even if he doesn’t read all of the emails and feedback, there are people who will and hopefully compile and tackle a list of issues that people are concerned with.
Anyways, I am tired. I am so glad that Tuesday is a holiday and best of all, my boss is going on a business trip, so she’ll be gone for the rest of the week. That means that we will actually be able to get some work done! Hurray!
