I Have Been Meaning To Blog……….

I have been meaning to blog - really I have, but obviously never got around to it. Not much has been going on, yet there are a lot of things happening. Oooh cryptic. Buahahahahahahahha.

The big happening right now is that I am going back to work on Tuesday. Eeek! I swear, I still don’t know if I am doing the right thing or not. I haven’t even started but there is already a ton of drama going on at the office. First of all, I am supposed to be full time, but the boss feels guilty about letting someone go - who she really needs to get rid of, so I am going to be working 30 hours a week instead of 40. The person she should let go, but won’t will be working 10 hours a week. The good thing about that is that I will be getting full benefits and since my hours won’t be as long, I will be able to either go to the gym after work before it gets too crowded or go to the beach! Yay! The sucky thing is that she is letting the person who she won’t fire keep her parking space, so I will not have a parking space. Dangit. Well, I suppose it will be even more motivation for me to get a bike and ride that to work since it really isn’t that far. I just hate that I live on a hill sometimes.

I guess I could also take the Bus to work, but again, I live on a hill and well, it is really a major pain the ass walking up the hill to get to my house. I suppose I could also look at it as a way to really get my butt in shape too.

Other than that, I have been going to the beach - a lot! Wooot! I haven’t been swimming as much as I did last year though. I mostly just chillax in the water - which is freaking awesome since it’s been getting hotter and more humid around here. Sunday was really bad, I would literally be sweating just sitting in my living room. Ugggh, gross. I really wanted to go to the beach, but there was an influx of jellyfish this weekend, so that was a no go. I guess I could have used the pool at the gym, but the only one with a pool is way out in Mililani and I really didn’t want to use the gas to go there. I am starting to get super tan again though. I think I am going to switch to SPF 70 since I am still getting pretty dark just using SPF 50! Eek!

Oh I guess it’s time for a photo dump!

I like to amuse myself in the water by doing my “Vortex of Doom.” Yea, it’s just me spinning in a circle in the water. I am so easily amused.

Here’s a POV from me swimming in the water.

ZOMG! Mongeese!

This is a few months old, but I took it the last time I went to Hanauma Bay. My buddy and I were just hanging out at a picnic table and saw these mongeese diving into the trash can to get some food. I think I saw 4 or 5 mongeese that day. A mongoose kind of looks like a ferret. The funny thing is the mongoose is not native to Hawaii. They were introduced here over a century ago to control the growing rat population back then. However, whoever it was that decided to bring them here forgot that mongeese are diurnal and well, the rats are nocturnal. That turned out well.

Here’s a video of a mongoose going into the trash can.

This is a really bad shot of the SuperFerry taken from the top of Hanauma Bay. You can barely make it out in the background there.

No photo dump would be complete without a couple of pictures of my cat Rayne!

Vog

VOG Over Honolulu

Vog

More Vog

The last couple of day have been hellish in Honolulu. We have been bombarded by Vog from the Big Island. Vog is basically like smog, except that the particles in the air come from volcanic ash and sulfur dioxide from the volcano on the Big Island. Today has been especially bad because the winds have died down and it’s humid as heck. Uggghh.

I think this is what global warming is going to be like in different parts of the world when it gets worse later on. Of course I don’t think the majority of people are going to realize that the conditions now are probably going to be the reality in a few years - simply because the vog should be going away in a day or so and people will forget about it.

I actually started working out again earlier this week. I was going to workout again last night, but decided against it simply because of all of the pollution in the air.

Ooof, I had a lot of things planned today, but I just feel so icky, I don’t even want to leave the house until the sun sets.

Lyon Arboretum

We had our end of session lunch at Hanaki in the Manoa Marketplace today. It was okay. My digestive system was still a little upset and just the smell of grease was making me sick. I was so nervous to go to this thing today. I have no idea why, it was weird.

I was going to do a little shopping there, but after lunch, I just didn’t feel like it, so I headed out to the Lyon Arboretum in Manoa Valley afterwards instead. I kept meaning to go there after I returned here from the mainland, but never did. Man, I love that place. It’s just so peaceful and lovely. I really need to get back there more often.

Buddha!

I just wandered around there for about half an hour. Yea, I know, not that long, but I wasn’t wearing proper footwear, and there were a ton of mosquitoes out. But, I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this statue of the Buddha. I had forgotten it was there. It was just what I needed to end my time there though.

I think I am going to be taking another trip back there fairly soon. I really do need to figure out how to work my camera better though.

What A Relaxing Saturday

Seriously, I had one of the most relaxing Saturdays ever yesterday. I literally spent most of the day web surfing from my bed, it was awesome.

I did my typical Friday thing the nightt before - you know, get home and then pass out around 7 or 8pm and then sleep for 12 to 14 hours. Yippy! My life is exciting!

I really needed this time to just veg though. I was dragging this whole week and needed some time to unwind/get caught up on some much needed rest.

There was a little excitement in the neighborhood though.

Some dufus hit a fire hydrant on the street below mine and well, you can see what happened.

Thar She Blows! Gushing Fire Hydrant

It only gushed like that for about 5 or 10 minutes before the fire department showed up and shut it off. Oh well.

So, I was a little bored tonight and so now, ugh, now I am thinking about getting a new camera again. I think I might go to Best Buy tomorrow and just check out a couple of those new fangled Canon’s - particularly the S5 and the SX100. They are both pretty similar, but the S5 has a few more features and is therefore more expensive. But, they both include manual controls over shutter or aperture, which is what I really want in a camera now.

Ooof, I’ll see. If anything I will head down to Best Buy to see if they have any Wii’s in stock. I doubt they will by the time I get there, but who knows.
