Seriously, I had one of the most relaxing Saturdays ever yesterday. I literally spent most of the day web surfing from my bed, it was awesome.
I did my typical Friday thing the nightt before - you know, get home and then pass out around 7 or 8pm and then sleep for 12 to 14 hours. Yippy! My life is exciting!
I really needed this time to just veg though. I was dragging this whole week and needed some time to unwind/get caught up on some much needed rest.
There was a little excitement in the neighborhood though.
Some dufus hit a fire hydrant on the street below mine and well, you can see what happened.
It only gushed like that for about 5 or 10 minutes before the fire department showed up and shut it off. Oh well.
So, I was a little bored tonight and so now, ugh, now I am thinking about getting a new camera again. I think I might go to Best Buy tomorrow and just check out a couple of those new fangled Canon’s - particularly the S5 and the SX100. They are both pretty similar, but the S5 has a few more features and is therefore more expensive. But, they both include manual controls over shutter or aperture, which is what I really want in a camera now.
Ooof, I’ll see. If anything I will head down to Best Buy to see if they have any Wii’s in stock. I doubt they will by the time I get there, but who knows.
All in all it was a pretty productive 4th of July for me.
The day started off a little late but I did make it to Hanauma Bay! Woot! Of course, the parking lot was closed when we got there, but no worries. I just headed on down the road and had a picnic near Sandy Beach.
We headed back to Hanauma Bay after lunch, the parking lot was open again and conditions were a lot better than the last time. We didn’t stay too long though. My Aunt Flow decided to come to town. Nothing like snorkeling and getting your period at the same time! Woot!
The BBQ was pretty much over by the time I got home and showered but I was still able to snag a mega plate of leftovers and pigged out! I didn’t think I was that hungry but I ended up eating something like 4 ribs! Woot!
My Mom wanted to check out the Ala Moana fireworks display so Fred came over and we headed to the lookout point near the house to catch it. Man! The place was packed! My Mom and I went to the same lookout the night before to check out the Aloha Tower fireworks but we got there pretty early and were able to get a good spot. We got there just in time for a spot though. I didn’t take any pictures since we were pretty far away for any type of long exposures.
We then headed back to the house to catch the Pearl Harbor fireworks since those were visible from the rear patio. Of course we all got distracted by the aerial fireworks that the people on the street below kept setting off.
Then while Fred and I were hanging out, one of those police state helicopters starting circling the local strip mall. I was quite curious because they were also using a very high powered search light over the area. Then the police cars started arriving at the strip mall. I hopped in the car and headed on down there to satisfy my curiosity and arrived just as an ambulance pulled into the parking lot.
Apparently some guy got stabbed at the local McDonald’s there! Yikes! It was so bizarre. There were like 10 cop cars when I got there and some guy was lying face down on the sidewalk in front of the McDonald’s. He was surrounded by 5 or 6 cops just standing over him while the paramedic attended to him. Of course there was another group of 5 or 6 cops standing a few yards away just chatting it up with each other. Yea I suppose they could of been “debriefing” each other, but yea right.
I am not quite certain what happened but some guy there said that the guy on the ground was fighting with a couple of cops in McDonald’s and that the guy either stabbed himself with a knife or somehow fell on it when the cops kicked him out of the restaurant. All I know is that the guy’s shirt was covered in blood when the paramedic turned him over.
But, here’s the good part. The McDonald’s was shut down when I got there but a little while after the guy got put into the ambulance, well, they opened their doors and started serving customers again. Commerce must go on apparently. Of course one of the doors was blocked off by police tape and it looked like a couple of cops were still interviewing witnesses inside of the McDonald’s but the Fries Must Flow apparently.
The pictures are a bit blurry since I didn’t have a tripod.
I felt a little weird taking pictures but I figured screw it. I am a blogger, I must document!
Wow, what a day! Snorkeling, BBQ, fireworks and a stabbing. What more could a girl ask for?
So, I’ve uploaded some pictures to Flickr. Okay, okay, I uploaded them a few days ago, but thought I would make a post here in case anyone comes across this and is wondering, “hmm, I wonder if that kundalini/alisha person has been taking any pictures lately.” Hmm. I just know that there is some random stranger out there who must be thinking that right now. Yea, you! You know who you are. Buahahahahhahahaha.
You can access my Flickr either by clicking on the conveniently placed link above OR by clicking on the mystifyingly moving pictures on the right.
This is an R2D2 mailbox in case you couldn’t tell. I found this one outside the Ala Moana Shopping Center Post Office. Yes, I am a geek. I do believe I squealed in delight when I saw it.
Here’s one of the many fish at Hanauma Bay, Hawaii. Snorkeling this weekend was soo much fun! I did get pretty burned on my back and shoulders because I put my sunscreen on too early and it rubbed off on my backpack on the way down to the beach. Whoops!I was pretty tired and sore the next day, but that’s cool - since snorkeling was awesome!
I might go snorkeling again in about 3 weeks, if not, I am definitely going on my birthday! Wooot!
