Sleepy Time?

Doh. I took a 4 hour nap this evening. I was only going to sleep for an hour, but I guess I didn’t hear my alarm. Gosh, I hope this doesn’t screw up my sleep schedule for the week.

Man, it kind of sucks though. I was going to go to Best Buy tonight to pick up a laptop bag that is on sale, but I got up after the store had closed. I also need to get some kind of phone line connector since the main line in my living room is dead since I disconnected some kind ringing enhancement device my Grandma had in the bedroom - that she never used or never worked. Oh well, I shall get those things tomorrow I suppose.

I did stop by the local drugstore hoping to pick up the phone line thingy, but my local Longs Drugstore is undergoing some major renovations. It’s cool though since the place hasn’t been spruced up since the 70’s or 80’s. I don’t know if the renovations are taking place because a Walgreen’s is opening up across the street or because it was finally time for the place to get updated. The store is definitely looking more spacious though. It’s just a pain sometimes since I can’t do my late night shopping runs there right now since they aren’t stocking a lot of the things that they normally do because of all of the stuff they are moving around.

I was hoping to catch up on my work today, but the calls kept coming and coming and unfortunately, I only got to tackle part of one pile on my desk. I didn’t get a chance to look at the schedule tomorrow, but I hope it isn’t bad. I have a ton of stuff I need to complete tomorrow. Oh I hope the phone doesn’t ring as much as it did today.

I Did It!

Can I get a woot woot?

I finished my Olympic Challenge tonight!! Heck Yea!!! What was the Olympic Challenge? My goal was to bike/walk 150 miles and do 150 push-ups during the Olympics. I finished the push-ups a couple of days ago and well, I wasn’t going to, but I was so close, I just had to finish the 150 miles today at the gym. Ooof. I was on that bike for an hour and a half today! It was nuts!

Yea, it might not have seemed like a very lofty challenge to some people, but I am pretty out of shape and well, I wanted to pick a goal that was kind of out there, but still achievable in two and a half weeks.

I knew I could do it and for my reward, I got this.

hp9925

I really don’t need it since my old laptop is still running fine. But, I have pretty much run out of hard drive space and I am not always in places where I can use one of my external drives. Plus, this puppy has a 17inch, widescreen monitor and 4GB of Ram! Yea! I am sure that there are some peeps out there who are cringing that I got a PC laptop, but as great as Macs seem to be, I can’t afford a Mac. I mean, really, could I have gotten a comparable Mac for less than$700? I don’t think so.

It’s an interesting laptop. It is “bigger” than my old one, but seems to weigh less and it has one of those separate keypads on the side, which I think will come in handy. It also has a built in webcam. Eek! I might actually sign up for Skype now. LOL.

Of course, my big test for this will be World of Warcraft. I haven’t played in a year, but there is a new expansion coming out in a couple of months and if I ever have the time, it should be pretty smooth on this machine. At least I am hoping it is.

Now that I’ve successfully completed this challenge, I kind of want to start a new one, but I haven’t figured one out yet. I haven’t finalized it yet, but I think I will start something this coming week and have it end on Election day. I am trying to figure something out that will incorporate strength training as well as yoga since an almost pure cardio challenge is just going to be too boring. I need some variety dagnamit!

I used to try to set weight goals for myself, but have failed miserably with that since I don’t like to weigh myself. A fitness challenge seems a heck of a lot more interesting to me actually. I think I have lost a little weight since my clothes seem a little looser. Yay!

Anyways, I am pooped. I think I shall watch part of a movie on my new laptop and then go to sleep.

Sleepy

Things were a little better at work today. Not great, but slightly better - mostly because I just kept to myself.

I still wonder if there are going to be any repercussions tomorrow because I am not going to be attending a meeting the boss scheduled at 5pm. Oh well. She knows I get off of work at 4pm, but I am pretty sure she still expects me and my co-worker to attend this meeting that is not supposed to end until 6:30. Of course there would also be the clean up after that, so in reality, we wouldn’t get out of work until almost 7pm. Hmmm, yea, I don’t think so.

Plus, I want to hit the gym tomorrow night so I can get closer to my goal. I did another 20 push ups today! Yay! I was going to crank out the last 50, but I got distracted by Excel. I really suck at spreadsheets and I kept trying to get the formatting right on this one spreadsheet I was working on at home. But, I just couldn’t get it right. Oh well.

I am so very sleepy right now. I think I will bring my laptop in to work tomorrow though. I have yet another meeting to attend - pretty much to show face and I am hoping that I will be able to sit in a corner and get some more work done. Whoo whoo. I am nuts.

What A Freaking Monday

Well, this weekend started off okay. I went to Makino Chaya with a couple of friends of mine on Friday since it was a State holiday and we had time off.

Aloha Tower Marketplace

The food was okay. The place was actually quite crowded and filled with a gazillion tourists. That was disappointing. One of my dining companions said the place was pretty empty the last time he went there for lunch. Plus, what sucked too was that they raised the price for lunch because it was a State holiday. Grrrr. Oh well.

Bodies1

After lunch we hit the Bodies exhibit at Ala Moana Center. Admission was half off since it was Admission Day in Hawaii. Woot! I love bargains! We had to wait in line for an hour to get in though. That sucked majorly. But, I am glad I got to see it. It was quite interesting seeing all of the different body parts - dissected for your viewing pleasure. I was pretty apprehensive that I was going to get sick while in the exhibit, but I was okay throughout the whole thing. Although you knew you were looking at real people, (aka dead Chinese prisoners), it wasn’t that bad because everything looked like plastic. If things were more gooey, I definitely would have required a sick bag or something.

Technology is such a bitch goddess. They use a process called polymer preservation to preserve the corpses. The gist of it is that they dehydrate the body and then pump in a type of plastic to preserve the shape of the organ, tissue, etc. They had a couple of samples you could touch at the end of the exhibit and it was pretty freaky. I held part of someone’s preserved brain for a few moments and it was heavy. I don’t know if that is because the organ itself is heavy or because of the plastic. It felt like a rubber toy actually.

Cameras weren’t allowed inside and I didn’t bring my small camera to get some smuggled pictures either. I guess no photography is allowed so you would buy one of their photo books in the gift shop - conveniently placed at the end of the exhibit before the exit.

I was pretty beat, but I came home and then decided to hit the gym to jump start my Olympic challenge again.

The next day, we went to the Hilton Hawaiian Village for my cousin’s wedding. I really didn’t want to go because I don’t think I’ve ever met this cousin and we were there because my Mom invited herself. It was a nice ceremony I guess. They got married on the beach in front of the hotel. The bonus was that it was a short ceremony. Being the idiot I can be though, I forgot to put on any sunscreen thinking I would be okay considering how often I go to the beach. I was wrong. So very wrong. My shoulders got pretty burnt. I don’t think I am going to peel, but shoulders are pretty red. I also got that wonderful sunglasses tan on my face. Great. I have a reverse raccoon face going on.

Shh, I'm Hunting Fishes

Guess What?

After the ceremony, we were walking back to the hotel and I just had to stop and take some pictures of this bird on a rock in front of one of the restaurants. It looked like a sculpture - it was so still. I guess it was hunting some of the small fishes in the pond, but it was just fascinating. I was just going to go home after that, but stayed and had lunch with my Mom and cousin instead. I am really glad I did because I got my parking stub validated and saved $21 in parking fees! Heck Yea!

They were going to go to dinner at Benihana as well, but I skipped on that because I just felt like we would be imposing on my cousin. I swear, the only reason why I knew this guy getting married was my cousin was because I saw him and his bride in their fancy clothes in the lobby. Otherwise, I would have had no idea who he was

I also didn’t want to go to this wedding because I am still so very heart broken from my last breakup. It’s been 2 years, but it is still so very painful for me. I believe my ex has already gotten married too. Great, just great. After all of those years of him telling him that he didn’t believe in marriage. I guess he just didn’t believe in marrying me.

Uggh, I am just having my own little pity party. It definitely has put me into a funk for the last couple of days though. I wish I could just have a normal relationship with someone.

Anyways, I hit the gym for a second day in a row that night. I just had to get away and try to work some of my emotions out.

I spent most of Sunday trying to relax, but I just kept thinking about work and all of the work that I am behind. I had actually brought some work home with me, but after speaking with my co-worker, I decided not to bother.

Monday. Oh man, Monday was such a sucky day. I finally said something to my boss about the amount of work she gives us. I was kind of ticked anyway because she scheduled a meeting from 5pm to 6:30pm in a couple of days, and she basically expects me to sit in on it, even though I get off of work at 4pm. After speaking to her about our workload, she pretty much blew me and my co-worker off and implied that I wasn’t doing my job because I wasn’t working 10 to 12 hour days. Um, yea. She hired me on as a part timer at 30 hours a week because she didn’t want to fire the person I was replacing. The rest of this is going to be private, but my boss is basically making me feel like I suck at my job, when I am just doing the best I can.

Dammit, I need to get to bed.
